Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Do I need an electrician to install the Kanto Mini Trimless Downlight?
Yes, this is a hardwired mains-voltage downlight and installation falls under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. You'll need a qualified electrician or competent person registered with a scheme like NICEIC or NAPIT to carry out the work legally and safely. The installation is rated as moderate difficulty due to the trimless plaster-in design, which requires careful alignment and coordination with plastering work.
What type of bulb does this downlight use and can it be replaced?
The Kanto uses an integrated LED module rather than a replaceable bulb. This means the LED is built into the fitting and cannot be swapped out. Integrated modules typically offer better thermal management and a more compact design, but when the LED reaches end of life, the entire fitting would need replacing rather than just a lamp.
Can this trimless downlight be dimmed?
Yes, the Kanto is dimmable using a leading edge (TRIAC) dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure your dimmer is compatible with LED fittings and rated appropriately for the load. It's worth noting that dimming performance can vary between dimmer brands, so choosing a quality LED-compatible dimmer will give the best results without flickering or limited range.
Is this downlight suitable for bathroom use?
No, this downlight has an IP20 rating, which means it offers only basic protection against solid objects and no protection against moisture. It's suitable for dry indoor areas only and should not be installed in bathrooms or any zone where water ingress is possible. For bathrooms, you'd need a minimum of IP44 (or IP65 for shower zones).
What are the cutout dimensions needed for installation?
The fitting measures 68mm width × 39mm height × 88mm depth overall, but as this is a trimless plaster-in design, you'll need to create a ceiling aperture that accommodates the housing before plastering. The specific cutout size will depend on your ceiling construction and plastering approach—consult the installation instructions provided or have your electrician assess the requirements during the first fix stage.
What size room or ceiling is this mini downlight best suited for?
As a mini downlight with a compact 68mm width, the Kanto is ideal for smaller spaces, intimate areas, or where you want multiple discreet light points without visual clutter. It works particularly well in hallways, dressing rooms, walk-in wardrobes, or as accent lighting in residential settings. For general room lighting, you'd typically install several units spaced appropriately to achieve even coverage, with spacing determined by ceiling height and desired light levels.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
