You'll need a qualified electrician or competent person registered with a scheme like NICEIC or NAPIT to carry out the work legally and safely. The trimless design also requires precise cutting and plastering skills during first-fix, so it's typically installed during renovation or new builds rather than as a retrofit.
What GU10 bulb should I use with the Kanto downlight?
The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 7W maximum. For best results with the tiltable feature, opt for a GU10 LED with a narrow beam angle (around 36°) to create focused accent lighting, or a wider flood beam (60°+) for general room illumination. The fitting is dimmable with leading edge (TRIAC) dimmers, so choose a dimmable GU10 LED if you want dimming functionality.
Can this downlight be used in a bathroom?
Yes, the Kanto has an IP65 rating which makes it fully splash-proof and suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2 (above the bath or in the shower enclosure). Just ensure the dimmer switch itself is positioned outside the bathroom zones or is rated appropriately. Always confirm zone placement with your electrician during installation.
