Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Can the Arlen outdoor wall light be used in exposed areas like a front porch or garden wall?
Yes, the Arlen has an IP44 rating, which means it's protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as porches, patios, and under eaves, though it's not designed for direct exposure to heavy rain or jets of water (which would require IP65 or higher).
Do I need an electrician to install this wall light, or can I fit it myself?
As a mains-voltage Class I wall light, the Arlen must be connected to your household wiring and requires an earth connection. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, any new outdoor electrical circuit or modification typically requires certification by a qualified electrician. If you're simply replacing an existing outdoor light on an already-compliant circuit, a competent DIYer may do so, but an electrician is recommended for safety and compliance.
Can I replace the LED bulb in this fitting when it eventually fails?
No, the Arlen features an integrated 9W LED module which is not user-replaceable. Integrated LEDs typically last 25,000–50,000 hours (roughly 10–20 years under normal use), after which the entire fitting would need replacing. This design allows for a more compact, weatherproof unit with better thermal management than traditional bulb fittings.
Is this wall light dimmable with a standard dimmer switch?
The specifications do not indicate dimming capability, so the Arlen should be assumed non-dimmable. Installing this on a dimmer circuit could cause flickering, buzzing, or damage to the driver. If you require dimmable outdoor lighting, you'll need to look for a fitting explicitly marked as dimmable with compatible LED driver technology.
What colour temperature is the LED, and can I change it to warm or cool white?
The Arlen emits a 3000K warm white light, which produces a soft, yellowish glow similar to traditional incandescent bulbs—ideal for creating a welcoming ambience outdoors. Because the LED is integrated and fixed, the colour temperature cannot be changed or adjusted.
What are the exact dimensions of this wall light, and how far does it project from the wall?
The Arlen measures 275mm in height, 82mm in width, and projects 112mm from the wall. This compact, streamlined profile makes it well-suited to narrow pathways, doorways, or smaller outdoor areas where a less obtrusive fitting is preferred.
