Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Arcus outdoor wall light need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, as a hardwired mains-voltage wall light, the Arcus must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting connects directly to your mains electrical supply and should be installed onto a suitable outdoor-rated backbox or mounting surface. If you're replacing an existing outdoor wall light in the same location, your electrician will be able to connect it to the existing wiring.
What IP rating does this wall light have for outdoor use?
The product specifications provided do not list an IP rating for the Arcus wall light. Before purchasing for outdoor use, we recommend contacting us to confirm the IP rating, as this indicates the level of protection against moisture and dust. For most UK outdoor applications such as covered porches or sheltered entrance ways, an IP44 rating is typically adequate, while fully exposed locations require IP65 or higher.
What type of bulb does the Arcus take and is it included?
The Arcus uses a standard E27 screw fitting, which gives you the flexibility to choose your own bulb type, brightness, and colour temperature to suit your needs. The bulb is not included with the fitting. You can use LED, halogen, or traditional filament bulbs up to the maximum wattage specified in the instruction manual, allowing you to customise both the light output and energy efficiency.
Can I use a dimmable bulb with this outdoor wall light?
The ability to dim the Arcus depends on whether your electrical circuit has a compatible dimmer switch installed and whether you use a dimmable bulb. The fitting itself accommodates dimmable E27 bulbs, but you'll need to ensure your electrician has fitted an appropriate dimmer switch suitable for the bulb type you choose (LED-compatible dimmers for LED bulbs, for example). If installed on a standard on/off switch, dimming will not be possible regardless of bulb type.
What are the dimensions of the Arcus wall light?
The specific dimensions for the Arcus outdoor wall light are not provided in the supplied specifications. We recommend contacting us directly for exact measurements including height, width, projection from the wall, and backplate size. These details will help you determine whether the fitting is appropriately scaled for your intended location, whether that's either side of a front door, on porch walls, or along a garden path.
Is this wall light suitable for use in a coastal location?
The suitability for coastal environments depends on the IP rating and the quality of the powder coating on the matt black metal finish, neither of which are fully detailed in the specifications provided. Coastal areas present challenges due to salt spray and moisture, which can corrode metal fittings over time. We'd recommend confirming the IP rating and whether the finish is specifically rated for coastal use before installation in exposed seaside locations.
