Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Venice wall light IP44 suitable for outdoor use in the UK?
Yes, the IP44 rating means the Venice is protected against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as porches, doorways, and under eaves. It's not fully weatherproof for completely exposed positions with direct rain, but will handle typical UK weather when mounted with some overhead protection. IP44 is the standard rating for most outdoor wall lights in sheltered locations.
Does this wall light need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, the Venice is a mains-powered fitting that requires hardwiring into your outdoor electrical circuit, which falls under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. You must use a registered electrician or notify Building Control before carrying out the installation. Outdoor installations also require appropriate cable protection and may need RCD protection on the circuit.
What type of bulb does the Venice outdoor wall light take?
The Venice uses a standard E27 screw-in bulb (also called ES or Edison Screw), with a maximum wattage of 25W. You'll need to purchase the bulb separately, and we'd recommend a warm white LED bulb (2700K-3000K) to complement the antique copper finish. LED bulbs rated at 4-6W will provide ample light while staying well within the 25W limit.
Can I use a dimmable bulb with this fitting?
The fitting itself doesn't prevent you from using a dimmable LED bulb, but you'll need to ensure your wall switch is replaced with a compatible LED dimmer switch for it to work properly. Standard dimmer switches designed for old incandescent bulbs often don't work well with LEDs and can cause flickering. Check that both your dimmer switch and LED bulb are compatible with each other.
What are the dimensions of the Venice wall light?
The specific dimensions aren't provided in the product specifications, but as a traditional outdoor wall lantern style, you should expect a depth projection of approximately 20-30cm from the wall and a height of 25-35cm. If precise measurements are critical for your installation space, we recommend contacting us before purchase to confirm the exact dimensions.
Will the antique copper finish rust or deteriorate outdoors?
The antique copper finish is a decorative coating designed to withstand outdoor conditions within its IP44 rating, though some natural weathering and patina development is normal and often adds to the vintage aesthetic. The fitting is built to Danish design standards for harsh Nordic weather, so it's engineered for durability. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth will help maintain the finish, but some natural aging should be expected with any outdoor metallic fixture.
