Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Tokyo path light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired bollard light and installation requires compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations. You'll need a qualified electrician to connect it to your mains supply, as the fitting must be wired into your outdoor lighting circuit with appropriate IP-rated connections and RCD protection. The supplier rates this as a moderate difficulty installation.
What type of bulb does this path light take and is one included?
The Tokyo uses a standard E27 ES (Edison Screw) bulb, but no bulb is included with the fitting. You'll need to purchase an E27 bulb separately—we recommend an LED warm white bulb for energy efficiency and longevity in outdoor conditions. The fitting accommodates one lampholder only.
Is IP44 suitable for exposed garden paths and driveways?
Yes, the IP44 rating makes this path light suitable for garden paths, driveways, and other outdoor locations. It's protected against splashing water from any direction and solid objects over 1mm, which is adequate for general outdoor use. However, avoid positioning it in areas prone to direct heavy water jets or full submersion.
Can I dim this outdoor path light?
Yes, the Tokyo is dimmable provided you use a dimmable E27 bulb and install it on a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure your electrician fits the appropriate trailing edge dimmer compatible with LED bulbs if you're using LED lamps, as standard dimmers may cause flickering or reduced bulb lifespan.
What are the exact dimensions and how tall will it stand in my garden?
This path light stands 110cm (1.1 metres) tall with a cylindrical shape. At just over a metre high, it provides effective path illumination at approximately waist-to-chest height for most adults, creating pools of light without glare while maintaining visibility of the surrounding garden.
What warranty does this bronze path light come with?
The Tokyo Outdoor Path Light is covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. This covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, though you'll need to retain your proof of purchase and ensure the fitting is installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with IET Wiring Regulations for the warranty to remain valid.
