Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of bulb does the Amba rattan table lamp take?
The Amba uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb fitting, so you can use any E27 bulb you prefer. This gives you full control over brightness and colour temperature — choose a warm white (2700K) LED for a cosy glow, or go brighter for reading. The lamp doesn't include a bulb, so you'll need to purchase one separately.
Can I use a dimmable bulb with this rattan table lamp?
The lamp itself has no built-in dimming function, but you can absolutely use a dimmable E27 LED bulb with an external dimmer switch or a plug-in dimmer module. This setup works well if you want adjustable light levels for different moods. Just ensure your chosen bulb is marked as dimmable and compatible with your dimmer type (leading or trailing edge).
How tall is the Amba table lamp and will it fit on a bedside table?
At 42cm tall, the Amba is specifically designed for bedside tables and side tables without overwhelming smaller surfaces. This compact height means it sits comfortably next to a bed or on a narrow console, providing ambient lighting without blocking sightlines or taking up too much space.
Does this lamp need an electrician to install or is it plug-in?
This is a simple plug-in table lamp that requires no electrical installation whatsoever — just plug the cable into any standard UK socket and switch it on. No electrician or Part P compliance needed, making it one of the easiest ways to add mood lighting to any room.
How much light does the rattan shade let through?
The natural rattan weave filters and diffuses light beautifully, creating soft dappled patterns rather than harsh direct illumination. You'll get a warm ambient glow that's ideal for relaxed spaces, though the woven texture does reduce overall brightness compared to a clear shade. For reading or task lighting, pair it with a brighter bulb (around 600–800 lumens).
Can I use this rattan lamp in a bathroom?
No, this table lamp has no IP rating and is not suitable for bathroom use. Rattan is a natural material that doesn't respond well to high humidity, and the electrical components aren't sealed for wet or damp environments. Keep it in dry living areas like bedrooms, lounges, or hallways.
