Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of bulb does the Amba rattan table lamp take?
The Amba uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb, which is the most common large screw fitting in the UK. You can use any E27 bulb you prefer — LED, filament, or smart bulbs all work. The lamp doesn't include a bulb, so you'll need to purchase one separately to suit your preferred brightness and colour temperature.
Can I use a dimmer switch with this rattan table lamp?
The lamp itself comes with an inline on/off switch on the cable and is not inherently dimmable. However, if you choose a dimmable E27 LED bulb and plug the lamp into a trailing socket dimmer or smart plug with dimming capability, you can control the brightness that way. Just make sure the bulb you select is marked as dimmable.
Does this lamp need an electrician to install, or is it plug and play?
It's completely plug and play — no electrician needed. The Amba arrives with an EU plug cable with inline switch, so you can simply fit a UK adapter or replace the plug yourself if comfortable doing so. There's no hardwiring involved, and it plugs straight into a standard 13A wall socket.
How tall is the Amba lamp and where does it work best?
The lamp stands 52cm tall, which is unusually tall for a table lamp — closer to a small floor lamp height. This makes it ideal for side tables next to sofas, on console tables in hallways, or beside armchairs in reading corners where you want light at a slightly elevated position without needing a full floor lamp.
What kind of light does the woven rattan shade give off?
The natural rattan weave creates a warm, dappled light effect with shadow patterns cast across walls and ceilings rather than a bright, focused beam. The amount and colour of light will depend entirely on the E27 bulb you choose — a warm white LED (2700K) will give a cosy glow, while a brighter daylight bulb (4000K+) will be more functional. Expect soft, decorative ambient lighting rather than task lighting.
Can this rattan table lamp be used in a bathroom?
No, the Amba is not rated for bathroom use. It has no stated IP rating for moisture or splash protection, so it should only be used in dry indoor areas like living rooms, bedrooms, or hallways. Keep it away from humid or wet environments to avoid damage to the natural rattan and electrical components.
