Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size bulb do I need for the Andène Rattan Daisy Pendant?
The Andène uses a standard E27 screw fitting, which is the most common large Edison screw bulb in the UK. You can use any E27 bulb you prefer—LED, filament, or decorative globe styles all work. Given the 85cm shade size, a larger bulb (such as a G95 or G125 globe) can look particularly striking and fill the space nicely.
Can I dim this rattan pendant light?
Dimming depends entirely on the bulb you choose, as the fitting itself doesn't restrict dimming capability. If you use a dimmable E27 LED bulb and have a compatible dimmer switch installed, you'll be able to dim it. Always check the bulb packaging confirms it's dimmable, as not all LED bulbs are.
Does this 85cm pendant need to be installed by an electrician?
If you're replacing an existing ceiling light on the same circuit, this generally counts as 'like-for-like' replacement and doesn't require Part P certification, though you must be competent to work safely with mains electricity. For new circuits or if you're unsure, you should use a qualified electrician. The fitting comes with mounting screws, plugs, and an instruction manual to assist with installation.
What ceiling height do I need for an 85cm diameter pendant?
With its impressive 85cm diameter, the Andène works best in rooms with ceilings of at least 2.7–3 metres to avoid overwhelming the space. It's ideal as a statement piece over large dining tables, kitchen islands, or in double-height hallways where its sculptural form has room to breathe. In standard 2.4m ceiling heights, it may feel too dominant unless the room is particularly spacious.
What kind of light does the rattan weave create?
The natural rattan weave creates beautiful dappled light with intricate shadow patterns cast across walls and ceilings. The openwork design means it's best used with an attractive decorative bulb, as the bulb will be visible through the weave. The effect is warm and organic, ideal for ambient lighting rather than task lighting.
Can I use this rattan pendant in a bathroom or outdoors?
No, this fitting has no IP rating and is designed for dry, indoor use only. It's not suitable for bathrooms (which require IP44 minimum in zones) or outdoor installations, as moisture would damage the natural rattan. Stick to living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, bedrooms, and other standard indoor spaces.
