Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Maison picture light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this fitting is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. It connects directly to mains wiring rather than plugging into a socket, so professional installation ensures safety and compliance. The fitting comes with mounting screws, plugs, and an instruction manual for your electrician to follow.
What type of bulb does this picture light use and is it included?
The Maison takes a single E14 small Edison screw bulb with a maximum wattage of 7W. The bulb is not included, so you'll need to purchase an E14 LED separately. We recommend a warm white (2700-3000K) E14 LED to complement the polished brass finish and create a gallery-style glow over your artwork.
Can I use this picture light with a dimmer switch?
Dimming capability depends on the bulb you choose, not the fitting itself. If you install a dimmable E14 LED bulb and have a compatible LED dimmer switch fitted, the light will dim smoothly. Always check that both your bulb and dimmer switch are marked as compatible with LED technology to avoid flickering.
What are the exact dimensions and how far does it extend from the wall?
The fitting measures 230mm wide, 140mm high, and extends 220mm from the wall thanks to its swan neck design. This depth allows the light to project over the frame of most artworks, typically illuminating pieces up to around 60-80cm wide with even coverage. The adjustable swan neck lets you fine-tune the angle for optimal lighting.
Can this picture light be used in a bathroom?
No, this fitting has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and offers no protection against moisture. Bathrooms require higher IP ratings (typically IP44 or above) depending on the zone, so the Maison is best used in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, or studies where humidity isn't a concern.
What warranty does this polished brass picture light come with?
The Maison picture light is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This covers the brass fitting and electrical components, giving you peace of mind on build quality. Keep your proof of purchase and ensure installation is carried out by a qualified electrician to maintain warranty validity.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
