Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Velia 3-Light Cage Pendant require an electrician to install?
Yes, as this is a hardwired Class I pendant light, installation must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. Unless you are a competent person registered with a scheme provider, you'll need a qualified electrician to connect it to your mains ceiling rose or BESA box and certify the work. The fitting must be earthed as it's Class I.
What type of bulbs does this pendant light take and are they included?
The Velia uses GU10 bulbs, and you'll need three in total (one per lampholder). Bulbs are not included, so you'll need to purchase them separately. Each bulb must not exceed 12W, which is typical for LED GU10s and will provide ample light for most rooms.
Can I use dimmable bulbs with the Velia cage pendant?
You can use dimmable GU10 LED bulbs, but you'll also need a compatible trailing edge dimmer switch installed on your lighting circuit. The pendant itself has no built-in dimming function, so dimming capability depends entirely on your bulbs and switch working together. Always check that your chosen bulbs are marked as dimmable.
Is this pendant light suitable for a bathroom?
No, the Velia has an IP20 rating, which means it's not protected against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor environments. For bathroom use, you'd need a minimum of IP44 (or IP65 in shower zones), so this fitting should be installed in living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas, or hallways only.
What is the maximum wattage and how bright will this 3-light pendant be?
Each of the three lampholders supports a maximum of 12W, giving you up to 36W total across the fitting. With modern LED GU10 bulbs, a 12W bulb typically produces around 1,000–1,200 lumens, so you can expect roughly 3,000–3,600 lumens in total—plenty of light for a dining table, kitchen island, or medium-sized room.
What dimensions should I expect and what ceiling height does it suit?
While specific drop length isn't listed in the specifications, cage pendant lights of this style typically suit standard UK ceiling heights of 2.4m and above. The three-cage design means it has moderate width, so ensure you have sufficient clearance above dining tables or kitchen islands—ideally 70–90cm above the surface to avoid head clearance issues.
