Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Aranne rattan pendant require an electrician to install?
Yes, hardwired pendant lights must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting will need to be connected to your ceiling rose or BESA box by a competent person. If you're replacing an existing pendant on the same circuit, this is typically a straightforward job.
What type of bulb does this 35cm rattan pendant use?
The Aranne uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb, which is the most common large bulb fitting in the UK. You'll need to purchase the bulb separately, as it's not included. We recommend an E27 LED bulb up to 60W equivalent for energy efficiency and longevity.
Can I use this pendant light with a dimmer switch?
Dimming capability depends entirely on the bulb you choose, as the fitting itself is compatible with dimmable bulbs. If you want dimming functionality, ensure you purchase a dimmable E27 LED bulb and have a compatible LED dimmer switch installed. Non-dimmable bulbs will not work with dimmer switches and may flicker or fail.
What size room is the 35cm Aranne pendant suitable for?
At 35cm diameter, this pendant works well over small dining tables, kitchen islands, breakfast bars, or as feature lighting in compact spaces like hallways or bedrooms. For larger dining tables or rooms, consider clustering multiple pendants or choosing a larger shade. The natural and brown rattan finish suits coastal, Scandi, and bohemian interiors particularly well.
Is this rattan pendant light suitable for bathrooms?
No, this pendant does not carry an IP rating and is not suitable for bathroom zones. Bathrooms require specific IP-rated lighting (typically IP44 or higher depending on the zone), and natural rattan materials are not appropriate for high-moisture environments. Use this fitting in dry indoor areas only.
What's the maximum wattage bulb I can use in this pendant?
The maximum wattage will be specified on the fitting itself or in the installation instructions, but most E27 pendants of this type safely accommodate bulbs up to 40-60W incandescent equivalent. With modern LED bulbs, this translates to around 6-10W actual consumption, providing ample brightness while staying well within safe limits.
