Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this outdoor path light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this bollard is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician to comply with UK Building Regulations Part P. Installation involves connecting mains wiring, running cable underground or through conduit to your lighting position, and securing the 75cm post to a suitable base such as paving, decking, or a concrete foundation. The installation difficulty is rated as moderate due to the outdoor electrical work and groundwork required.
What IP rating does this path light have and is it suitable for exposed garden locations?
The Dark has an IP54 rating, meaning it's protected against dust and splashing water from any direction. This makes it suitable for most garden path applications including exposed locations, though it's not submersible and shouldn't be installed in areas prone to standing water or flooding. The fitting operates reliably in temperatures from -20°C to 40°C, covering typical UK outdoor conditions year-round.
What type of bulb does this motion sensor path light use and is one included?
This bollard uses a standard E27 Edison Screw (ES) bulb with a maximum wattage of 25W, but no bulb is included with purchase. You'll need to buy a suitable E27 bulb separately – we recommend an LED warm white bulb rated for outdoor use to complement the anthracite finish and maximise energy efficiency. Ensure any bulb you choose is rated for outdoor conditions and doesn't exceed 25W.
Can I dim this outdoor bollard light with a dimmer switch?
No, this path light is not dimmable. The integrated motion sensor activates the light at full brightness when movement is detected, providing immediate illumination for safety and security purposes. If you require adjustable lighting levels along your path, you would need to consider a different fixture without motion sensor functionality.
How tall is this bollard and will it provide enough light for a garden path?
The Dark stands 75cm (750mm) tall with a width of 154mm, positioning the light source at shin-to-knee height for effective path illumination without glare. This height is ideal for lighting stepping stones, borders, and pathway edges while maintaining a low, unobtrusive profile. The actual brightness will depend on your choice of E27 bulb up to the 25W maximum – a 6-8W LED warm white bulb typically provides ample illumination for safe pathway navigation.
What warranty does this anthracite path light come with?
This outdoor bollard comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The fitting is CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK safety and environmental standards. Note that the warranty covers the light fitting itself; bulbs are consumable items and are not covered under the warranty terms.
