Yes, this is a hardwired ceiling fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation difficulty is rated as moderate, and it's suitable for mounting on plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings. You'll need a standard ceiling rose or BESA box connection point.
What type of bulb does this 60 cm ceiling light take and is it included?
The Kaia uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 7W, and the bulb is not included. We recommend an LED E27 bulb up to 7W for energy efficiency. If you want dimming functionality, you'll need to purchase a dimmable E27 LED bulb separately and use a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Can the Kaia stone-effect ceiling light be dimmed?
Yes, this fitting is dimmable provided you use a dimmable E27 bulb (not included) and install a trailing edge dimmer switch. The fitting itself is dimmer-compatible, but both the bulb and the dimmer switch must support dimming. Standard non-dimmable bulbs will work at full brightness only.
What are the exact dimensions and how much clearance does it need?
The light measures 600 mm (60 cm) wide and 350 mm in height from the ceiling mount. This makes it a substantial statement piece ideal for dining tables or kitchen islands. Ensure you have adequate headroom, especially in lower-ceilinged rooms, as it drops 35 cm from the mounting point.
Is this ceiling light suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?
No, the Kaia has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations. It is not protected against moisture and must not be installed in bathrooms (which require minimum IP44 in zones) or outdoors. It's ideal for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and hallways.
