Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Kanto trimless downlight require a qualified electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired mains-voltage fitting and installation falls under UK Building Regulations Part P. You'll need a registered competent person or qualified electrician to carry out the wiring and certify the work. The installation difficulty is rated as moderate due to the plaster-in nature requiring coordination with your plasterer to skim flush around the housing.
What GU10 bulbs work with this downlight and can it be dimmed?
The Kanto accepts any GU10 bulb up to 7W maximum wattage, which covers most LED GU10s on the market. It is dimmable using a leading-edge (TRIAC) dimmer switch, but you must pair it with dimmable GU10 bulbs for flicker-free performance. Choose your preferred colour temperature (warm white, cool white, etc.) based on the GU10 bulb you select, as the fitting does not include a bulb.
Can this IP65 downlight be used in a bathroom?
Yes, the IP65 rating means the Kanto is fully protected against moisture and water jets, making it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2 (directly above a bath or shower). Always verify placement complies with IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) for bathroom zones, and ensure installation is carried out by a qualified electrician familiar with bathroom electrical safety requirements.
What are the cutout dimensions and ceiling void depth needed for installation?
The fitting measures 87mm wide (cutout diameter), 39mm tall (visible/front face), and requires 106mm depth into the ceiling void for the housing. Ensure you have at least 110mm of clear ceiling void depth and that your ceiling is suitable plasterboard construction, as the trimless design relies on being skimmed flush with the plaster finish.
Is the bulb included or do I need to purchase a GU10 separately?
The bulb is not included. You'll need to purchase a GU10 LED bulb separately, with a maximum wattage of 7W. This allows you to choose your preferred colour temperature and beam angle to suit your room, whether you need warm ambient lighting or brighter task illumination.
What warranty does the Kanto trimless downlight come with?
The fitting comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This covers the downlight housing and electrical components, though bulbs are typically considered consumable items and may not be covered. Always retain your proof of purchase and ensure installation is carried out by a qualified electrician to maintain warranty validity.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
