Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Does the Lucia bollard light need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, this is a Class I mains-powered outdoor light that requires connection to your household electrical supply, so installation must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations. Unless you're a competent person registered with an electrical self-certification scheme, you'll need a qualified electrician to carry out the wiring and ensure it's properly earthed and protected by an RCD.
Is IP44 sufficient for an exposed garden path or does it need to be under cover?
IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for most garden locations including open pathways, driveways, and borders. However, it's not fully weatherproof against heavy jets or submersion, so avoid positioning it where standing water collects or in very exposed coastal areas with driving rain.
What type of bulb does this bollard take and is it dimmable?
The Lucia uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 40W maximum, so you can choose LED, halogen, or traditional incandescent bulbs to suit your preference. Dimmability depends entirely on the bulb you select—if you want dimming functionality, choose a dimmable LED E27 bulb and ensure it's connected to a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit.
What are the exact dimensions and how far does the light spread?
The bollard stands 80cm tall, making it ideal for pathway lighting at shin-to-knee height where it won't cause glare. The spread and brightness depend entirely on the bulb you fit—a typical 470 lumen LED bulb will create a soft pool of light roughly 2-3 metres in diameter, perfect for marking pathways without overwhelming the space.
Can I install this on a deck or patio without digging, or does it require the ground spike?
You have two installation options included in the box: the ground spike for pushing directly into soil or grass borders, or the mounting plate for fixing to hard surfaces like concrete patios, decking, or paved areas using the supplied screws and fixings. Both methods are equally secure when installed correctly.
Is the stainless steel rust-proof or will it corrode outdoors?
The stainless steel construction is rust-resistant rather than entirely rust-proof, meaning it will withstand typical British weather conditions without significant corrosion for many years. To maintain its appearance, occasionally wipe down the fixture to remove salt deposits, dirt, or organic matter, particularly if you live in coastal areas where salt air accelerates wear.
