Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Mirage path light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired outdoor bollard light and requires connection to your mains supply, so installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations. The fitting is rated Class I, meaning it requires an earth connection. Given the moderate installation difficulty and the need to run exterior cabling (often underground), professional installation is both legally required and strongly recommended for safety and weatherproofing.
What IP rating does this outdoor lantern have and is it suitable for UK weather?
The Mirage has an IP44 rating, which means it's protected against solid objects over 1mm and splashing water from any direction. This makes it perfectly suitable for typical UK garden use on pathways, patios, and decking exposed to rain, but it should not be submerged or subjected to high-pressure water jets. The fitting operates reliably in temperatures from -20°C to 40°C, covering the full range of UK seasonal weather.
What type of bulb does the Mirage take and is one included?
This fitting takes a standard E27 Edison Screw bulb up to a maximum of 60W, but no bulb is included with the lantern. You'll need to purchase an E27 bulb separately—we'd recommend an LED filament bulb in warm white (2700K) to complement the traditional lantern styling and maximise energy efficiency. The Mirage is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Can this path light be dimmed and what type of dimmer is needed?
Yes, the Mirage is fully dimmable provided you use a dimmable E27 bulb and install a trailing edge dimmer switch on the circuit. Trailing edge dimmers are specifically designed for LED and low-wattage bulbs, preventing flickering and ensuring smooth dimming performance. Your electrician can advise on compatible dimmer switches during installation.
How tall is this bollard light and will it provide enough illumination for a pathway?
The Mirage stands 86cm tall with a footprint of 13cm × 13cm, making it a substantial presence that sits at mid-shin to knee height for most adults. At this height with a 60W-equivalent LED bulb, it provides excellent wayfinding illumination for pathways, borders, and driveways without causing glare. The clear glass panels diffuse light both downwards and outwards, casting attractive patterns while clearly defining pathway edges.
What warranty does the Mirage outdoor lantern come with?
This fitting comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies to the light fitting itself; bulbs are considered consumable items and are not covered. Keep your proof of purchase and ensure the fitting is installed by a qualified electrician to maintain warranty validity.
