Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Tokyo bronze path light need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, this is a hardwired bollard light and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation involves connecting mains voltage wiring, typically requiring an underground armoured cable run from your consumer unit or an outdoor junction box. This is classified as moderate difficulty and not suitable for DIY unless you hold the necessary electrical qualifications.
Is the Tokyo 70cm path light suitable for all weather conditions outdoors?
Yes, with an IP44 rating, the Tokyo is fully protected against splashing water from any direction and solid objects over 1mm, making it suitable for exposed garden pathways, driveways, and patios. It operates reliably in temperatures from -20°C to +40°C, covering typical UK winter and summer extremes. The stainless steel and polycarbonate construction with bronze finish is designed to withstand prolonged outdoor exposure.
What type of bulb does this path light require and is one included?
The Tokyo uses a standard E27 ES (Edison Screw) bulb, but no bulb is included with the fitting. You'll need to purchase a suitable E27 bulb separately—we recommend an LED bulb rated for outdoor use, typically 6-10W for pathway lighting. Ensure your chosen bulb is compatible with outdoor temperatures and suitable for enclosed fixtures.
Can this outdoor bollard light be used with a dimmer switch?
Yes, the Tokyo is dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. Both the bulb and dimmer must support dimming functionality—standard non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail. Always check your chosen bulb specifies 'dimmable' on the packaging and install an appropriate trailing edge dimmer.
What is the actual height and light spread of this 70cm bollard?
The Tokyo stands 700mm (70cm) tall from ground level, which is ideal for pathway and driveway lighting without causing glare at eye level. This height typically provides a soft pool of downward light spanning roughly 2-3 metres in diameter, depending on your chosen bulb wattage. The cylindrical design directs light downwards and slightly outwards for effective path illumination.
What warranty is provided with the Tokyo path light?
This outdoor bollard light comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty requires professional installation by a qualified electrician and normal outdoor use within the specified operating temperatures. Keep your proof of purchase and installation certificate for any warranty claims.
