Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of bulb does the Natipe XXL rattan pendant take and is it included?
The Natipe requires a standard E27 Edison screw bulb, which is not included in the box. You'll need to purchase one separately—we recommend a warm white LED (2700K) for the most natural glow through the rattan weave. Given the open, woven design, avoid overly bright bulbs; a 6–10W LED (equivalent to 40–60W incandescent) usually provides ample ambient light without glare.
Can I use a dimmer switch with this 85cm rattan dome pendant?
The pendant shade itself is compatible with dimming, but you'll need to pair it with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED loads. Standard rotary dimmers designed for old incandescent bulbs often cause flickering or buzzing with LEDs, so check compatibility or upgrade to an LED-compatible dimmer if necessary.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant light, or can I fit it myself?
Under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales, you may replace an existing ceiling pendant on a like-for-like basis yourself, provided you're competent and the circuit remains unaltered. If you're installing a new circuit, adding a switch, or feel unsure about the wiring, you must use a qualified electrician or notify Building Control. The Natipe is lightweight (1.3kg) and comes with mounting hardware, making the physical installation straightforward once the electrical connections are safely made.
Will an 85cm pendant be too large for my dining room?
An 85cm diameter works best over dining tables of at least 150cm long or in open-plan spaces with high ceilings (2.7m+). As a rule of thumb, allow at least 30cm clearance on each side of the table, and hang the pendant so the bottom sits roughly 75–90cm above the table surface to avoid head knocks while maintaining an intimate lighting zone. In smaller rooms, this size can overwhelm, so measure carefully before committing.
What kind of light effect does the natural rattan weave create?
The hand-woven rattan filters and diffuses the bulb's light, casting intricate, organic shadow patterns across your ceiling and walls. Expect soft, ambient illumination rather than bright task lighting—the open weave allows some direct downlight but primarily creates decorative dappled effects. The finish is ideal for setting mood in dining areas or bedrooms, though you may want supplementary lighting for reading or food prep.
Is this rattan pendant suitable for bathrooms or outdoor covered patios?
No, the Natipe has no IP rating and is designed for dry, indoor use only. Natural rattan is vulnerable to moisture, which can cause warping, mould, or deterioration, so it's unsuitable for bathrooms (even outside zones) or any outdoor setting. Stick to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and dining areas where humidity and water exposure are minimal.
