Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

The fitting connects directly to your mains ceiling circuit, typically via a BESA box or existing ceiling rose. Installation difficulty is rated as easy for a professional, and the 60cm cable length allows for adjustable drop height.
What bulb does the 35cm Palmite pendant take?
The Palmite uses a standard E27 Edison Screw (ES) bulb, which is not included. You can use LED, halogen, or filament bulbs up to the maximum wattage specified in the instructions. For the best effect with the woven rattan shade, a warm white LED filament bulb (2700K) will create beautiful dappled shadows across your ceiling and walls.
Can I use this rattan pendant light in a bathroom?
No, the Palmite has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor areas and not protected against moisture. It cannot be used in bathrooms or other wet environments. Stick to living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and similar dry spaces where it's designed to perform safely.
Is the Palmite pendant dimmable?
Dimming depends entirely on the bulb you choose, as the fitting itself is compatible with dimmable bulbs. If you install a dimmable E27 LED bulb and have a compatible dimmer switch on your lighting circuit, you'll be able to dim the light. Always check your bulb packaging confirms it's dimmable and matches your dimmer type.
