Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

What type of bulb does the Perna 80cm bamboo pendant take and is it included?
The Perna uses a standard E27 screw bulb, which is not included with the fitting. You'll need to purchase an E27 bulb separately—we recommend an LED filament bulb (ideally 6-10W, around 600-800 lumens) to complement the natural aesthetic and work well with the slatted shade design. Choose warm white (2700K) for the most inviting glow through the bamboo.
Can the Perna bamboo pendant be installed on a dimmer switch?
The pendant itself is compatible with dimming, but you'll need to fit a dimmable E27 bulb and ensure you have a suitable LED-compatible dimmer switch installed. Standard rotary dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs often don't work well with LEDs, so check your dimmer is rated for LED use. If you're unsure, a qualified electrician can advise on the best dimmer for your setup.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant light, or can I fit it myself?
Under UK Building Regulations Part P, you can replace an existing ceiling light fitting yourself on a like-for-like basis without notifying Building Control, provided you're competent and the circuit is already in place. However, if you're installing a new circuit, adding a new light position, or working in a bathroom/special location, you must use a qualified electrician or self-certifying installer. Always isolate the power at the consumer unit before starting any electrical work.
