Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Do I need an electrician to install the Alabaster Globe Wall Light?
Yes, this is a hardwired Class I fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation involves direct connection to your mains wiring, typically via a BESA box or mounting plate, and requires proper earthing. Installation difficulty is rated as moderate.
What type of bulb does this wall light use and is it dimmable?
The Alabaster uses a single G9 capsule bulb with a maximum wattage of 40W, and yes, it is fully dimmable when paired with a dimmable G9 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. G9 bulbs are readily available in LED, halogen, and other formats, giving you flexibility in choosing your preferred light output and colour temperature. The bulb is not included in the box.
Can this alabaster wall light be used in a bathroom?
No, this wall light is rated IP20, which means it offers no protection against moisture and is suitable for indoor dry locations only. For bathrooms, you would need a fitting rated at least IP44 (or IP65 for shower zones), so the Alabaster is best suited to hallways, bedrooms, living rooms, and dining areas.
What are the dimensions and how far does it stick out from the wall?
The fitting measures 230mm in height, 180mm in width, and projects 120mm from the wall (depth). This makes it a relatively compact wall light that won't intrude too far into narrow hallways or beside beds, while the alabaster globe provides enough presence to make a stylish statement.
How much light does this wall light produce?
Light output depends entirely on the G9 bulb you choose, as the bulb is not included. With the maximum 40W rating, a halogen G9 would produce around 400-500 lumens, while a modern LED G9 at lower wattage (e.g. 3-5W) can achieve similar brightness. The natural alabaster stone diffuses the light beautifully, creating a soft, warm glow rather than focused task lighting.
Is each alabaster globe wall light different due to the natural stone?
Yes, because alabaster is a natural stone material, every globe features unique cream tones and copper veining patterns. No two lights are identical, which adds character and individuality to your fitting. The variation is part of the appeal and ensures your wall light is truly one-of-a-kind.
