Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

What type of dimmer switch do I need for this bulb?
The Helix requires a trailing edge dimmer switch for smooth, flicker-free dimming. Trailing edge dimmers are specifically designed for LED loads and will give you better control across the full range compared to older leading edge dimmers. If you're installing a new dimmer switch as part of fixed wiring, you'll need a qualified electrician to carry out the work in compliance with Part P Building Regulations.
Is this bulb bright enough to light a room or is it just decorative?
At 280 lumens and 4 watts, this is primarily a decorative ambient bulb rather than a main light source. It's ideal for creating mood lighting in living rooms, bedrooms, or dining areas, particularly in exposed pendants or table lamps where the sculptural filament becomes a feature. For task lighting or brighter illumination, you'd want to pair it with additional light sources or use multiple bulbs.
Will this fit a standard lamp holder?
Yes, this uses an E27 (Edison Screw) cap, which is the most common large screw fitting in the UK. It will fit any lamp, pendant, or light fitting with an E27 socket. The bulb measures 142mm in height and 64mm in diameter, so do check your shade or fitting has sufficient clearance, especially in enclosed or narrow fixtures.
Can I use this bulb in a bathroom?
No, this bulb is rated IP20, which means it's suitable for dry indoor locations only and offers no protection against moisture. Bathrooms require a minimum of IP44 (often IP65 for zones 1 and 2), so this Helix bulb should only be used in living areas, bedrooms, hallways, and other rooms without water exposure.
What colour temperature is the light and can I get it in cool white?
This bulb emits a warm white glow enhanced by the amber-tinted glass, creating a cosy, golden ambience similar to vintage incandescent bulbs. It's designed specifically for warm, atmospheric lighting. This particular model is only available in the amber finish with warm white output—it's not offered in cool white or daylight variants.
What's covered under the warranty if the bulb fails?
The Helix comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. If the bulb fails during normal use within this period, you'll be entitled to a replacement. The warranty doesn't cover damage from incorrect installation, use with incompatible dimmers, or physical breakage, so do ensure you're using a trailing edge dimmer for best results.
