Yes, this fitting is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The pendant connects directly to your mains ceiling supply, typically via a BESA box or ceiling rose. While the installation difficulty is rated as easy for a professional, it's not a plug-in fixture and requires proper electrical certification.
What bulbs do I need for the Nuvola Medium pendant and are they included?
The Nuvola takes two E27 screw-in bulbs with a maximum wattage of 7W each, but bulbs are not included with the fitting. We recommend LED E27 bulbs in 4W-7W to achieve a soft, ambient glow through the cotton and silk diffuser. If you want dimming functionality, ensure you purchase dimmable E27 LED bulbs and pair them with a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Can I dim the Nuvola cloud pendant light?
Yes, the Nuvola is dimmable provided you fit dimmable E27 LED bulbs (sold separately) and install a trailing edge dimmer switch on your lighting circuit. The fitting itself is compatible with dimming, but both the bulbs and the dimmer must be suitable for LED dimming to avoid flickering or buzzing. A trailing edge dimmer is specifically recommended for smooth, quiet operation with low-wattage LEDs.
What are the exact dimensions of the Medium Nuvola pendant?
The Medium Nuvola measures 600mm wide, 350mm deep, and has a total drop of 2000mm (2 metres) from ceiling to base, including the 2-metre suspension cable. The height is adjustable during installation, so you can shorten the cable to suit your ceiling height and intended position. This size works beautifully over dining tables or as a bedroom feature without overwhelming the space.
Is this pendant light suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Nuvola has an IP20 rating, meaning it offers no moisture protection and is suitable for dry indoor locations only. IP20-rated fittings must not be installed in bathrooms or any area where they could be exposed to water or high humidity. For bathroom lighting, you'll need fittings rated IP44 or higher depending on the zone.
What warranty does the Nuvola cloud pendant come with?
The Nuvola is covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The fitting is also CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK safety and environmental standards. Keep your proof of purchase should you need to make a warranty claim during this period.
