What type of bulbs does the Opale travertine pendant light use and are they included?
The Opale requires three G9 capsule bulbs with a maximum wattage of 5W each. Bulbs are not included with the fitting, so you'll need to purchase them separately. We recommend LED G9 bulbs for energy efficiency and longevity, and ensure they're dimmable if you plan to use a dimmer switch.
Can this 3-light pendant be dimmed?
Yes, the Opale is dimmable when fitted with dimmable G9 bulbs and connected to a trailing edge dimmer switch. The fitting itself is compatible with dimming, but you must use dimmable LED bulbs (not all G9 LEDs are dimmable) and install the appropriate dimmer type. Standard rotary dimmers may cause flickering or buzzing with LED bulbs.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant light?
Yes, an electrician is required for installation as this is a hardwired ceiling fitting. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, new or altered fixed electrical connections in dwellings must be installed by a qualified person or notified to Building Control. The installation itself is rated as easy for a competent electrician, suitable for plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
What are the dimensions and is the height adjustable?
The Opale measures 290mm in diameter with a total maximum height of 1640mm from ceiling to the bottom of the lowest shade. The height is adjustable via the 1.6m textile cable, allowing you to shorten it to suit your ceiling height and desired drop length above a dining table or kitchen island.
Is this travertine pendant suitable for a bathroom?
No, the Opale has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for indoor dry locations and not bathroom zones. For bathroom use, you would need a pendant with a minimum IP44 rating depending on the zone. This fitting is ideal for dining rooms, living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.
What warranty is provided with this pendant light?
The Opale comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty is standard for domestic indoor lighting and covers the fitting itself, though consumable parts like bulbs (sold separately) are not typically covered under fixture warranties.
