Yes, this fitting is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The pendant connects directly to your mains ceiling supply and requires proper earthing as it's a Class I fitting. Installation itself is straightforward for a professional, as it mounts to standard plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
Can I use a dimmable bulb with this pendant light?
Yes, the Yuki is fully dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to purchase the bulb separately, as none is included, and ensure your dimmer is compatible with the bulb type you choose (LED bulbs require LED-compatible trailing edge dimmers). Maximum bulb wattage is 12W.
What size bulb does the Yuki pendant take and is one included?
This fitting takes a standard E27 screw bulb with a maximum wattage of 12W, which is not included in the box. An E27 LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) works beautifully with the beige linen shade to create soft, diffused ambient light. Make sure any bulb you choose doesn't exceed the 12W limit.
How wide is the Yuki pendant and how low does it hang?
The shade measures 450mm in diameter (45cm), making it well-suited to dining tables or kitchen islands around 120-150cm wide. Total drop height is 1500mm (1.5m) from ceiling to the bottom of the shade, though this is adjustable during installation by shortening the 1.5m cable to suit your ceiling height.
Is this pendant light suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Yuki has an IP20 rating, which means it's not protected against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor areas. For bathrooms, you'd need a minimum of IP44 (ideally IP65 for zones 1 and 2), so this fitting should be limited to living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, and hallways.
What's the warranty on this linen pendant light?
The Yuki comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This is a standard warranty period for decorative lighting fittings and covers the metalwork, lampholder, and linen shade, though bulbs are not included or covered as they're consumable items.
