Does the Cubo cement wall light need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, this fitting is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation involves connecting mains wiring directly to the fitting, which is classified as notifiable electrical work. Most installers will mount it to a standard BESA box or directly fix it to suitable masonry, plasterboard or brick walls.
What G9 bulbs do I need and are they included?
You'll need two G9 capsule bulbs with a maximum wattage of 5W each—bulbs are not included with the fitting. For dimmable functionality, make sure to purchase dimmable G9 LED bulbs specifically, as the Cubo is compatible with trailing edge dimmers when paired with appropriate bulbs. Standard G9 LEDs in warm white (2700K-3000K) work beautifully with the travertine aesthetic.
Can this cement wall light be dimmed?
Yes, the Cubo is dimmable when fitted with dimmable G9 LED bulbs and connected to a compatible trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to install both the dimmable bulbs and the correct dimmer type—leading edge dimmers may cause flickering or buzzing with LED bulbs. The dimmer switch itself must be installed separately by your electrician during fitting.
What are the dimensions and how much wall space does it need?
The fitting measures 180mm high, 80mm wide and projects 80mm from the wall. You'll need clear wall space above and below the unit to allow the up-and-down light beams to spread properly—ideally at least 300mm clearance in each direction for the best lighting effect. The compact 80mm square footprint makes it suitable for narrower hallways and landings.
Is this wall light suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Cubo has an IP20 rating, which means it's not protected against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. For bathroom use, you'd need a minimum of IP44 (or IP65 for shower zones), so this fitting should be used in hallways, living rooms, bedrooms or other indoor spaces away from direct water exposure.
How bright will this wall light be with two 5W G9 bulbs?
With two 5W G9 LED bulbs installed, you can expect a combined output of approximately 900-1000 lumens, depending on the specific bulbs chosen. This provides ambient accent lighting rather than primary illumination—the up-and-down beams create atmospheric wall-washing effects ideal for hallways, feature walls or supplementary lighting in living spaces. For task lighting, you'd want to combine this with additional sources.
