Yes, as this is a hardwired ceiling pendant, installation must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. Unless you're a qualified electrician or Competent Person, you'll need to hire a registered professional to connect it safely to your mains circuit. The fitting itself is straightforward to mount to plasterboard, timber joists, or concrete ceilings.
What type of bulb does the Tsumi travertine pendant take and is it included?
The Tsumi uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb with a maximum wattage of 12W, and the bulb is not included. For best results with the natural stone and wood aesthetic, consider a warm white LED E27 bulb (2700K–3000K). If you want dimming capability, ensure you choose a dimmable E27 LED and pair it with a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Can I dim the Tsumi pendant light?
Yes, the Tsumi is dimmable provided you fit a dimmable E27 bulb (not included) and install a trailing edge dimmer switch on your lighting circuit. The fitting itself is compatible with dimming, but both the bulb and dimmer must be suitable for LED dimming to avoid flickering or buzzing.
What are the dimensions and is the cable length adjustable?
The pendant measures 170mm in diameter with a total drop of 1300mm from ceiling to base, and the cable is 1.3 metres long. The height is adjustable, so you can shorten the cable during installation to suit lower ceilings or to hang it closer above a dining table or kitchen island.
Can I use the Tsumi pendant in a bathroom?
No, this pendant has an IP20 rating, which means it offers no protection against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor environments. For bathrooms, you'd need a fitting rated at least IP44 (or IP65 for zones 1 and 2), so the Tsumi should be reserved for living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, or hallways.
