Does the Tsumi travertine pendant light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this fitting is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The pendant connects directly to your mains ceiling supply and requires secure fixing to suitable surfaces such as plasterboard with a joist, timber joist, or concrete ceiling. While the installation itself is rated as easy for a professional, DIY installation is not permitted for hardwired fittings in the UK.
What bulbs do I need for this 3-light travertine pendant?
You'll need three E27 (Edison Screw) bulbs, which are not included with the fitting. Each lampholder supports a maximum of 12W, so LED bulbs up to 12W are ideal—typically providing around 1000-1200 lumens per bulb. If you want dimming functionality, make sure to purchase dimmable E27 LED bulbs and pair them with a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Can the Tsumi pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Tsumi is dimmable when fitted with dimmable E27 bulbs and connected to a trailing edge dimmer switch. The dimmer switch is not included and must be installed separately by your electrician. Standard non-dimmable bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer, so always check your bulb specifications before purchasing.
What are the dimensions and is the drop height adjustable?
The pendant has a diameter of 290mm (29cm) and a total height of 1500mm (1.5m) from ceiling to the lowest point. The height is adjustable, so your electrician can shorten the cable during installation to suit your ceiling height and room layout. The cable length is 1.5 metres, giving you flexibility to customise the drop to your preferred height.
Is this travertine pendant suitable for a bathroom?
No, the Tsumi has an IP20 rating, which means it is not water-resistant and is only suitable for dry indoor areas. It cannot be used in bathrooms or any zones where moisture or water splashes are present. For bathrooms, you would need a pendant with a minimum rating of IP44 or higher depending on the zone.
Will each travertine shade look identical or do they vary?
Each tubular travertine shade will have unique natural veining and colour variation, as travertine is a natural stone. This means no two pendants are exactly alike, and the subtle differences in tone and pattern add to the organic, artisan character of the design. Expect variations in beige tones and stone markings, which are a feature of the material rather than a defect.
