Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

What type of bulb does the Kyoto pendant take and what's the maximum wattage?
The Kyoto uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb with a maximum wattage of 12W. No bulb is included, so you'll need to purchase one separately. For best results with the travertine shade, consider a warm white LED (2700K-3000K) to complement the natural beige tones and bring out the stone's veining.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Kyoto is dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable E27 bulb. You'll need a trailing edge dimmer switch installed to control the brightness smoothly. Both the dimmer and a dimmable bulb are required — standard non-dimmable bulbs won't dim and may flicker or fail.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant light?
Yes, as this is a hardwired ceiling fitting, installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician to comply with UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation itself is straightforward — it mounts to standard ceiling points including plasterboard, timber joists, or concrete — but certification is legally required for mains electrical work in dwellings.
What are the dimensions and how low does it hang from the ceiling?
The pendant measures 120mm in diameter and 129mm in height, with a 1.3-metre cable length. The total drop from ceiling to the base of the shade will be approximately 1.43m, though the cable can be shortened during installation if you need it to hang higher. Its compact 12cm width makes it ideal for smaller spaces or clustering in multiples.
Is this pendant suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Kyoto has an IP20 rating, which means it's not protected against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor areas. It cannot be used in bathrooms or any room where it may be exposed to humidity or water splashes. For kitchens away from sinks and hobs, it's perfectly fine.
