Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of bulb does the Onda plaster wall light require?
The Onda requires one G9 bulb (not included). G9 bulbs are small capsule-style bulbs commonly available in LED, halogen, or incandescent versions. For energy efficiency and longevity, we recommend a G9 LED bulb, which will also run cooler if you plan to paint the plaster fitting.
Can this plaster wall light be dimmed?
Dimming capability depends on the bulb you choose and your dimmer switch. If you fit a dimmable G9 LED bulb and install it on a compatible LED dimmer circuit, the Onda can be dimmed. Always check that your bulb is labelled as dimmable and that your existing dimmer switch is rated for LED loads to avoid flickering.
Do I need an electrician to install this wall light?
Yes, under UK Building Regulations Part P, installing or altering fixed mains-voltage lighting must be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person registered with a self-certification scheme. The Onda is a hardwired fitting and must be connected directly to your mains supply, so professional installation is required.
What are the dimensions of the Onda ribbed wall light?
The Onda measures 240mm wide × 110mm high × 70mm deep (projection from the wall). This compact profile makes it suitable for hallways, living rooms, and bedrooms without protruding too far into the space, while still delivering a striking sculptural presence.
Can I use this plaster wall light in a bathroom?
The Onda has an IP20 rating, which means it is suitable only for dry indoor locations and not for use in bathrooms or other moisture-prone areas. For bathrooms, you would need a fitting with a minimum IP44 rating (or IP65 for shower zones), depending on the zone.
Can I paint the Onda wall light before or after installation?
You can paint the Onda either before or after installation, though most decorators find it easier to paint before mounting. Use standard emulsion or water-based paint for best results. If painting after installation, ensure the power is off, and avoid getting paint on the bulb or inside the lamp holder.
