The fitting connects directly to your mains ceiling wiring (typically via a BESA box or junction box) and is classified as notifiable electrical work. Installation difficulty is rated as moderate, and all mounting hardware is included in the box.
What type of GU10 bulb works best with this spotlight?
This fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 60W maximum, though LED GU10 bulbs (typically 4-7W) are recommended for energy efficiency and longevity. The spotlight is dimmable when paired with dimmable GU10 LED bulbs and a trailing edge dimmer switch. Bulbs are not included, so you'll need to purchase these separately based on your preferred brightness and colour temperature.
Can I use this spotlight in a bathroom or ensuite?
No, this spotlight has an IP20 rating which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and offers no protection against moisture. For bathroom use, you would need a fitting rated IP44 or higher depending on the zone. The Luminar is ideal for kitchens, hallways, living rooms, bedrooms, and other standard interior spaces.
What are the exact dimensions and how far does it protrude from the ceiling?
The spotlight measures 100mm in height (projection from ceiling), 60mm in width, and 50mm in diameter for the cylindrical head. With a compact footprint and 100mm drop, it suits standard ceiling heights without dominating the space. The fitting weighs 2kg due to its solid brass construction, so ensure your ceiling can support this weight during installation.
Is the spotlight head adjustable and can I direct the light beam?
Yes, the Luminar features an adjustable head that allows you to direct the light beam where needed, making it perfect for accent lighting, highlighting artwork, or task lighting over kitchen worktops. The cylindrical head can be angled while the box mount bracket remains fixed to the ceiling.
