Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Verona Up Down Wall Sconce require a qualified electrician to install?
Yes, as this is a mains-wired wall light, installation must comply with UK Building Regulations Part P. Unless you are a competent person registered with an electrical self-certification scheme, you'll need a qualified electrician to carry out the wiring and connection to your mains supply. Most installations will also require a BESA box or backplate already in place on the wall.
How bright will the Verona wall sconce be and how much will it cost to run?
The Verona holds two G9 bulbs, so total brightness depends on your bulb choice—pair of 3W LEDs will give around 500–600 lumens (soft ambient light), while 5W LEDs deliver roughly 900–1000 lumens for stronger illumination. Running two 5W G9 LEDs for 4 hours daily costs approximately £3–4 per year at current UK energy rates, making it an economical choice for hallway or living room accent lighting. G9 LEDs are widely available in warm white (2700K) or cool white tones to suit your décor.
Can I use this wall sconce with a dimmer switch?
Dimmability depends entirely on the bulbs you fit, not the fixture itself. If you install dimmable LED or halogen bulbs and have a compatible dimmer switch already in place, the Verona will dim successfully. Standard non-dimmable LEDs will not work with a dimmer and may flicker or fail.
Is this wall light suitable for bathroom use?
No, the Verona has no stated IP rating and is specified for indoor use only, making it unsuitable for bathrooms where moisture and specific IP ratings (typically IP44 or higher) are required by UK wiring regulations. It's best suited for dry indoor areas such as hallways, living rooms, or bedrooms.
What are the dimensions of the Verona wall sconce?
Specific dimensions are not provided in the available specifications, but as an up-down wall sconce with glass shades and antique brass metalwork, you should expect a compact to medium-sized fitting typical of traditional wall lights. We recommend contacting us directly or checking the product page for exact height, width, and projection measurements before purchasing.
What is the ideal mounting height for the Verona wall sconce?
For optimal lighting effect and visual balance, mount the Verona between 1.5 and 1.8 metres from floor level—this positions the fitting at eye level or slightly above, allowing the up-down light beams to wash the wall beautifully without glare. In hallways or beside beds, aim for the lower end of this range; in rooms with higher ceilings or above furniture, you can go slightly higher. The fitting stands 320mm tall, so factor this into your placement to ensure the light spread works with your ceiling height and room proportions.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
