Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

No, the Valen is completely plug-in and requires no electrical installation whatsoever. Simply remove it from the box, insert a bulb, plug it into any standard UK socket, and switch on. This makes it ideal for renters or anyone wanting an immediate lighting solution without the cost or hassle of hiring a qualified electrician.
What type of bulb does this lamp take and is it included?
The lamp accepts standard E27 Edison screw bulbs, which are widely available in supermarkets, DIY stores, and online. The bulb is not included, giving you the flexibility to choose your preferred wattage, colour temperature (warm white, cool white, etc.), and bulb style—including LED, halogen, or decorative filament options.
Can I use a dimmer switch with the Valen tripod lamp?
Dimming capability depends entirely on the bulb you choose, as the lamp itself is plug-in rather than hardwired to a wall dimmer. If you want dimmable lighting, purchase a dimmable E27 LED bulb and use either a plug-in lamp dimmer adapter or a smart bulb with app-controlled dimming. Standard non-dimmable bulbs will work at full brightness only.
At 78cm tall, will this lamp fit on a standard bedside table?
At 78cm high and 36cm wide, the Valen is substantially taller than most bedside tables and may dominate smaller nightstands. It's best suited to console tables, side tables in living rooms, or floor-adjacent surfaces where its dramatic height becomes a feature rather than an obstruction. Consider whether you have at least 80–90cm of clearance above your intended surface.
Is this table lamp suitable for bathrooms?
No, the Valen has an IP20 rating, which means it offers no protection against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor environments. Bathrooms require a minimum of IP44 (or IP65 for shower zones), so this lamp should be used in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, or studies only.
