Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this spotlight need to be installed by an electrician?
Yes, the Luminar is hardwired directly into your mains supply and legally requires installation by a qualified electrician under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. The fitting connects to a standard ceiling box mount and involves live electrical work, so professional installation ensures both safety and compliance. Installation difficulty is rated as moderate, and the box includes mounting screws and bracket.
What type of GU10 bulb do I need and is one included?
This fitting takes standard GU10 bulbs up to 60W maximum, but no bulb is included in the box. You can use LED, halogen, or energy-saving GU10 bulbs depending on your preference—LED GU10s are recommended for efficiency and longevity. Make sure to choose a warm white colour temperature (typically 2700K-3000K) to complement the matt chrome finish and create a cosy atmosphere.
Can this spotlight be dimmed and what dimmer switch do I need?
Yes, the Luminar is dimmable, but you'll need a trailing edge dimmer switch installed to control it properly. Compatibility also depends on your choice of GU10 bulb—make sure to select dimmable bulbs and check they're rated for trailing edge dimmers to avoid flickering or buzzing. Your electrician can advise on the correct dimmer switch during installation.
What are the dimensions and how far does it project from the ceiling?
The spotlight has a diameter of 50mm and width of 60mm, with a compact cylindrical body that extends 100mm in height from the ceiling surface. This relatively low profile makes it suitable for standard ceiling heights without dominating the space. The fitting weighs 1kg, so it's substantial enough for quality but easily supported by a standard ceiling mount.
Is this spotlight suitable for bathroom use?
No, this spotlight has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for general indoor use and offers no protection against moisture. For bathrooms, you would need a minimum of IP44 (for zones 2 and 3) or IP65 (for zones 0 and 1 directly above baths or showers). The Luminar is ideal for living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, and other dry interior spaces.
What warranty is included and is the fitting CE marked?
This spotlight comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The fitting is both CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting all UK safety and environmental standards. It's classified as Class I electrical equipment, meaning it requires an earth connection for safe operation.

Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
From Europe’s quiet workshops
Copenhagen brass, Milanese plaster, hand-woven French rattan — small independent design houses, named by place, plainly.
Designed in Europe. Named honestly.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
