Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

The fitting has a moderate installation difficulty and weighs 1kg, so proper mounting into plasterboard, brick, or masonry is essential. Your electrician will connect it to the existing mains wiring, typically via a junction box or switched fused spur.
What bulbs do I need and are they included?
This fitting requires a single GU10 bulb with a maximum wattage of 60W, which is not included with the spotlight. You can use either halogen or LED GU10 bulbs in warm white, with LED being the more energy-efficient choice. GU10 bulbs are readily available from most lighting and hardware retailers across the UK.
Can I dim this wall spotlight?
Yes, the Luminar is fully dimmable when used with a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. You'll need a trailing edge dimmer for best performance, particularly if using LED bulbs, as this type prevents flickering and buzzing. Make sure both your bulb and dimmer switch are labelled as compatible with each other for smooth dimming operation.
Is this spotlight suitable for bathroom use?
No, this fitting has an IP20 rating which means it's only suitable for indoor dry locations and offers no protection against moisture. For bathroom installation you'd need a minimum of IP44 (preferably IP65 for zones 1 and 2), so the Luminar is best reserved for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and other dry interior spaces. Consider it ideal for feature walls, artwork illumination, or bedside reading areas.
What are the dimensions of this spotlight?
The Luminar measures 100mm in height, 60mm in width, and 50mm in diameter, forming a compact cylindrical profile that sits close to the wall. This relatively slim footprint makes it suitable for tighter spaces or areas where you want focused lighting without a bulky fixture protruding into the room.
