Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this track spotlight require an electrician to install?
Yes, installation requires a qualified electrician. The Luminar is a hardwired ceiling light that must be connected directly to your mains electrical supply, which falls under Part P Building Regulations in England and Wales. The track adapter connects to a ceiling junction or lighting circuit, and the installation difficulty is rated as moderate.
What type of bulb does this spotlight take and is one included?
This fitting takes a single GU10 bulb with a maximum wattage of 60W, but no bulb is included in the box. You'll need to purchase a GU10 separately—LED GU10s are recommended for energy efficiency and longevity. The fitting accepts standard twist-and-lock GU10 capsules widely available in the UK.
Can this track spotlight be dimmed?
Yes, the Luminar is dimmable when fitted with a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible trailing edge dimmer switch. Ensure your dimmer is specifically rated for LED loads if you're using LED GU10s, as standard rotary dimmers may cause flickering. The fitting itself supports dimming, but bulb and dimmer compatibility must be verified separately.
What are the dimensions of this spotlight?
The spotlight head measures 100mm in height and 50mm in diameter, with a cylindrical ribbed profile. It weighs approximately 1kg including the track adapter. The compact size makes it ideal for track systems in kitchens, galleries, or retail spaces without overwhelming the ceiling line.
Can I use this spotlight in a bathroom?
No, this spotlight is not suitable for bathrooms. It has an IP20 rating, which provides no protection against moisture and is only certified for dry indoor environments. Bathrooms require fittings with minimum IP44 (or IP65 for shower zones), so this product should be used in living rooms, hallways, kitchens, or commercial spaces only.
How much rotation and tilt does the spotlight head offer?
The spotlight head rotates 330° horizontally and tilts 90° vertically, giving you comprehensive directional control to aim light precisely where needed. This makes it excellent for accent lighting, highlighting artwork, or adjusting beam direction as your space evolves. The track mount allows repositioning along the entire track length as well.
