Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Luminar track spotlight require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired track-mounted fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation is rated as moderate difficulty and involves connecting the spotlight to an existing lighting track system via mains wiring. If you don't already have compatible track in place, your electrician will need to install that first.
What type of bulb does this track spotlight take and is one included?
The Luminar uses a standard GU10 bulb with a maximum wattage of 60W, but no bulb is included in the box. You'll need to purchase a GU10 separately—LED GU10s are recommended for energy efficiency and cooler operation. Make sure to choose a dimmable GU10 if you plan to use dimming functionality.
Can this spotlight be dimmed and what type of dimmer switch is needed?
Yes, the fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmable GU10 bulb. You'll need a trailing edge dimmer switch for smooth, flicker-free dimming performance. Ensure your electrician installs the correct dimmer type, as leading edge dimmers may cause buzzing or poor dimming range with LED bulbs.
What are the dimensions of this track-mounted spotlight?
The spotlight measures 100mm in height and 50mm in diameter, with a cylindrical shape and matt black aluminium finish. It weighs 2kg, so ensure your track system is rated to support this weight. The compact profile makes it ideal for discrete accent lighting without dominating the ceiling space.
Can I use this spotlight in a bathroom or kitchen?
This fitting is rated IP20, which means it's suitable for indoor dry locations only and not certified for bathroom zones where moisture or water splashes are present. It's perfectly fine for general kitchen use away from sinks and hobs, but must not be installed within bathroom zones 0, 1, or 2.
How much rotation and tilt adjustment does this track spotlight offer?
The Luminar rotates 330° horizontally and tilts 90° vertically, giving you exceptional flexibility to direct light precisely where needed. This makes it ideal for highlighting artwork, architectural details, or creating layered accent lighting that can be easily adjusted as your space evolves.
