What type of bulbs does the Orla Travertine Globe Wall Light take and are they included?
The Orla requires two G9 capsule bulbs with a maximum wattage of 5W each. Bulbs are not included in the box, so you'll need to purchase them separately. For a warm ambient glow, we recommend LED G9 bulbs in 2700K–3000K.
Can this wall light be dimmed?
Yes, the fitting is dimmable when used with dimmable G9 bulbs and a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure both the bulbs you purchase are marked as dimmable and that your dimmer is compatible with LED loads (if using LED bulbs). The fitting itself supports dimming but the bulbs and control must match.
Do I need an electrician to install this wall light?
Yes, an electrician is required. The Orla is a hardwired Class I fitting that must be connected to your mains supply and earthed correctly. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, any new or altered fixed wiring in dwellings must be installed by a qualified person or certified under a competent person scheme.
What are the dimensions and how far does it stick out from the wall?
The fitting measures 100mm wide and 280mm high. The projection from the wall will depend on the depth of the twin glass globes, but as a surface-mounted design with spherical shades, expect a protrusion of approximately 100–120mm to accommodate the travertine frame and glass.
Can I use this wall light in a bathroom?
No, the Orla has an IP20 rating, which means it offers no protection against moisture and is suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for use in bathrooms or any zones where water exposure is possible.
Is the travertine finish consistent or will it vary between fittings?
As travertine is a natural stone, each fitting will have unique variations in colour, veining, and texture. The sand-coloured finish provides an organic, earthy look, but expect slight differences between individual units—this is a characteristic feature of genuine stone materials.
