Can I use the Otto triple spot light in a bathroom, and which zones is it suitable for?
Yes, the Otto has an IP44 rating which makes it suitable for bathroom Zones 2 and 3. This means it's protected against water splashes and can be installed above a bath or shower (at least 60cm away from the water source in Zone 2) or anywhere else in the bathroom beyond Zone 1. It must not be installed within Zone 0 or Zone 1, which require higher IP ratings.
What type of G9 bulbs do I need and are they included?
You'll need three G9 capsule bulbs with a maximum wattage of 9W each (27W total). Bulbs are not included with the fitting. If you want dimming capability, make sure to purchase dimmable G9 bulbs and pair them with a trailing edge dimmer switch. Standard non-dimmable G9 LED bulbs will work but won't dim.
Do I need an electrician to install this ceiling light?
Yes, an electrician is required as this is a hardwired Class I fitting that must be connected directly to your mains electrical supply. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, bathroom electrical work and new circuits must be installed by a qualified electrician or certified under Building Control. The installation is rated as moderate difficulty and requires connection to your ceiling wiring.
What are the dimensions and how much space does it take up on the ceiling?
The Otto has a diameter of 200mm (20cm) on the ceiling plate. This compact footprint makes it ideal for smaller rooms, bathrooms, or hallways where you want multiple light sources without overwhelming the space. The three adjustable spots are arranged on this 200mm base and can be individually directed as needed.
Is this triple spot light dimmable and what dimmer switch do I need?
Yes, the Otto is dimmable when fitted with dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. You must use a trailing edge dimmer (also called an LED-compatible dimmer) rather than a standard leading edge dimmer. The dimmer switch is not included and must be purchased and installed separately by your electrician.
How much light output will I get from this three-spot fitting?
The total light output depends on which G9 bulbs you choose, as bulbs are sold separately. With three 9W LED G9 bulbs at approximately 800-900 lumens each, you'd achieve around 2400-2700 lumens total—suitable for small to medium rooms or as task lighting. The opal glass diffuses the light for a soft, even glow rather than harsh spotlighting.
