What type of bulb does the Ren linen pendant light use and is it included?
The Ren uses a standard E27 screw-in bulb with a maximum wattage of 12W, but the bulb is not included. You'll need to purchase an E27 LED bulb separately – we'd recommend a warm white (2700K-3000K) dimmable LED to complement the soft, diffused glow of the linen shade. The low 12W maximum makes it ideal for energy-efficient LED bulbs.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Ren is dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable E27 bulb. You'll need to use a trailing edge dimmer switch (also called an LED-compatible dimmer) for smooth, flicker-free dimming. Both the dimmer switch and a dimmable bulb are required – standard non-dimmable bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail.
Do I need an electrician to install this pendant light?
Yes, an electrician is required as this is a hardwired Class I fitting that must be connected directly to your mains electrical supply. Under UK Building Regulations Part P, all new fixed electrical installations in England and Wales must be carried out by a qualified electrician or certified under a competent person scheme. The fitting itself is straightforward to install on plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
What are the dimensions and is the cable length adjustable?
The shade measures 50cm in diameter and 22cm deep, with a total maximum drop of 1.5 metres including the cable. The height is fully adjustable, so your electrician can shorten the cable during installation to suit your ceiling height and room layout. The 50cm diameter makes it ideal for hanging above dining tables or as a central feature in living rooms.
Can I use this pendant light in a bathroom?
No, this pendant has an IP20 rating which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and offers no protection against moisture. It cannot be safely installed in bathrooms, particularly near showers or baths where water spray or high humidity is present. For bathroom lighting, you'll need fittings rated IP44 or higher depending on the zone.
What warranty does the Ren pendant come with?
This pendant light comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is valid from the date of purchase and covers the fitting itself, though bulbs are considered consumable items and are not covered. The fitting is CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting all UK safety standards.
