What type of bulbs does the Sabbia travertine pendant light use and are they included?
The Sabbia uses three G9 capsule bulbs with a maximum wattage of 5W each. Bulbs are not included, so you'll need to purchase them separately. G9 bulbs are widely available in both dimmable and non-dimmable versions, and we recommend choosing dimmable LED G9 bulbs if you plan to use a dimmer switch.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the fitting is dimmable when paired with dimmable G9 bulbs and a trailing edge dimmer switch. The fixture itself is compatible with dimming, but you must use dimmable bulbs (the dimming function won't work with standard non-dimmable bulbs). Trailing edge dimmers are specifically designed for LED bulbs and provide smooth, flicker-free dimming.
Does this pendant need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, an electrician is required as this is a hardwired ceiling fixture. In England and Wales, fixed lighting installation is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, and in Scotland it must comply with electrical safety standards. The installation itself is rated as easy for a competent electrician, and the fitting is suitable for plasterboard, timber joist, or concrete ceilings.
What are the dimensions and is the cable length adjustable?
The Sabbia measures 650mm wide and has a maximum drop of 1500mm from ceiling to the bottom of the shades. The cable length is adjustable, with 1.5 metres of cable supplied, allowing you to shorten it to suit your ceiling height. This linear design makes it particularly well-suited to kitchen islands and dining tables.
Is this travertine pendant suitable for bathroom use?
No, this pendant is not suitable for bathrooms. It has an IP20 rating, which means it offers no protection against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. Bathrooms require higher IP ratings (typically IP44 or above depending on the zone), so this fitting should only be used in living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, or bedrooms.
What warranty does this light come with and where is it manufactured?
The Sabbia pendant comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. It is manufactured in China and is both CE marked and RoHS compliant, meeting UK and European safety and environmental standards.
