Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Soft Downward Ambient Glow
The opal glass lower hemisphere diffuses light into a gentle, downward-focused glow that illuminates surfaces below whilst minimising glare. The brass upper half blocks upward light, creating an intimate pool of warm illumination ideal for dining tables, kitchen islands, or bedside areas.

Questions
Does the Selene Spherical Pendant Light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired Class I pendant light and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting connects directly to your mains supply, typically via a ceiling rose or BESA box, and requires proper earthing. The cable length is 3 metres, which can be shortened during installation if needed.
What type of bulb does this pendant take and is one included?
The Selene uses a standard E27 Edison Screw (ES) bulb with a maximum wattage of 20W, but no bulb is included with the fitting. You can choose LED, halogen, or traditional filament bulbs up to 20W depending on your preferred brightness and colour temperature. For best results with the opal glass diffuser, we recommend a warm white LED (2700K-3000K) for ambient lighting.
Is the Selene Opal Brass pendant light dimmable?
Yes, this fitting is dimmable, but you'll need to use a dimmable E27 bulb and have a compatible dimmer switch installed. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for the bulb type you choose—LED bulbs require LED-compatible dimmers to avoid flickering. The pendant itself has no restrictions on dimming, so performance depends entirely on your bulb and dimmer combination.
What are the dimensions of this pendant and how low will it hang?
The Selene measures 250mm in diameter with an overall drop of 428mm from the ceiling, including the suspension cable and canopy. The opal glass sphere itself is approximately 250mm wide, making it well-suited for dining tables, kitchen islands, or medium-sized rooms where you need focused lighting without overwhelming the space. The 3-metre cable allows for adjustable height during installation.
Can this pendant light be used in a bathroom?
No, the Selene has an IP20 rating, which means it offers no protection against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. UK bathroom regulations require minimum IP ratings depending on the zone—IP65 for zones 1 and 2—so this fitting should not be installed in bathrooms. It's ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and dining areas instead.
What is the weight of this pendant and does it need special ceiling support?
The Selene weighs 1554g (approximately 1.55kg), which is within the capacity of standard UK ceiling fixings and BESA boxes. Most plasterboard ceilings with proper fixings or joist-mounted ceiling roses will support this weight without issue, but your electrician will assess the ceiling structure during installation. If your ceiling is particularly weak or old, additional reinforcement may be required.

The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
