Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Solara Alabaster Ring Chandelier require a qualified electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired Class I ceiling fixture and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The chandelier weighs a considerable amount due to the solid brass frame and alabaster panels, so it requires secure fixing to a suitable joist or ceiling support, not just a plasterboard ceiling. Your electrician will connect it to your mains circuit and ensure it's properly earthed.
Is this chandelier dimmable and what type of bulbs does it need?
Yes, the Solara is dimmable when fitted with dimmable E14 SES (small Edison screw) bulbs and used with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch. The fixture takes 12 E14 bulbs (not included), and we recommend using LED bulbs rated at around 4-6W each for a warm, ambient glow that complements the natural alabaster. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED bulbs if using LEDs.
What are the dimensions and how much ceiling height do I need?
The chandelier measures 600mm in diameter and 220mm in height, with 1.7 metres of suspension cable included for height adjustment. It's best suited to rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4 and 3 metres to ensure adequate clearance below the fitting. The cable can be shortened during installation to suit your specific ceiling height and desired drop length.
Can I use this chandelier in a bathroom or kitchen?
This fixture is rated IP20, which means it's suitable for dry indoor environments only and not rated for bathroom zones where moisture or water splash is present. It's ideal for dining rooms, living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, and kitchens in dry areas away from sinks or hobs. For bathrooms, you would need a fitting with a minimum IP44 rating.
What kind of light quality does the alabaster provide and is it bright enough for a dining table?
The natural alabaster panels create a warm, diffused omnidirectional glow with soft ambient lighting rather than direct task lighting. With 12 bulbs, you can achieve approximately 4,800-7,200 lumens in total (using 400-600 lumen E14 bulbs), which provides ample ambient light for a dining room of up to around 20 square metres. The alabaster's cream tones and copper veining add character and warmth, making it perfect for atmospheric dining rather than bright work lighting.
What warranty is included and does it cover the alabaster panels?
The Solara comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects in both the brass framework and alabaster components. This includes issues with the lampholders, wiring, and structural integrity of the natural stone panels. As alabaster is a natural material, each piece has unique veining and colour variation, which is a characteristic of the stone and not considered a defect.
