Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Does the Terra wall sconce require an electrician to install?
Yes, the Terra is hardwired and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. It's designed to connect directly to your mains wiring, typically mounting to a standard BESA box or wall backplate. The fixture comes with mounting screws, plugs, and full installation instructions for your electrician.
What type of bulb does this wall light use and is it included?
The Terra uses a standard E27 screw-in bulb, which is not included with the fitting. You can choose any E27 LED, halogen, or filament bulb up to the maximum wattage specified in the installation guide. For best results with the fluted ceramic design, we recommend a warm white LED filament bulb to enhance the texture and create beautiful shadow play.
Can this terracotta wall sconce be dimmed?
Yes, the Terra is fully dimmable, allowing you to adjust the ambience to suit any occasion. You'll need to fit a compatible dimmer switch (trailing edge dimmers work best with LED bulbs) and use a dimmable E27 bulb. Your electrician can advise on the appropriate dimmer for your chosen bulb type during installation.
What are the dimensions of the Terra wall light?
The Terra measures 250mm in height and 160mm in width, with the fluted ceramic body projecting from the wall to create depth and shadow. This makes it an ideal scale for flanking doorways, positioning either side of a bed, or spacing along a hallway without overwhelming the wall.
Can this ceramic wall sconce be used in a bathroom?
No, the Terra has an IP20 rating, which means it's only suitable for dry indoor locations and is not protected against moisture. It cannot be installed in bathrooms or any areas where it may be exposed to water or high humidity. For bathrooms, you'll need a wall light with a minimum IP44 rating for zones 2 and 3.
Is each Terra wall sconce exactly the same or do they vary?
As each Terra is handmade by artisans in Portugal, there will be slight natural variations in the terracotta glaze and fluted texture between individual pieces. These subtle differences are characteristic of handcrafted ceramics and add to the authentic, artisanal quality of the fixture. If ordering multiple units for symmetrical installation, expect them to coordinate beautifully while retaining individual character.
