Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does the Taverna pendant light require an electrician to install?
Yes, this is a hardwired ceiling pendant and must be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK Building Regulations Part P. The fitting connects directly to your mains ceiling rose or BESA box and cannot simply be plugged in. Professional installation ensures safe connection to the 230V supply and proper support for the 1.7kg weight.
Can this pendant light be dimmed?
Yes, the Taverna is dimmable when fitted with a dimmable E27 bulb and a trailing edge dimmer switch. You'll need to ensure both the bulb you choose and your dimmer are compatible — trailing edge dimmers work best with LED bulbs. The fitting itself supports dimming up to the 10W maximum wattage.
What type of bulb does this pendant take and is one included?
This pendant requires a single E27 screw-in bulb with a maximum wattage of 10W, and no bulb is included. The ribbed glass shade is designed to showcase decorative filament bulbs, so we recommend choosing an LED filament bulb in a warm white tone (2700K) to complement the vintage brass and travertine finish. Standard E27 LED bulbs are widely available and energy-efficient.
What are the dimensions and how low will it hang?
The pendant has a total height of 1540mm (154cm) from ceiling to the bottom of the shade, with the glass shade measuring 185mm in diameter. This drop length makes it ideal for rooms with standard or high ceilings, particularly over dining tables or kitchen islands where you want the light to hang into the space. Check your ceiling height to ensure adequate headroom beneath.
Is this pendant suitable for a bathroom?
No, this pendant has an IP20 rating, meaning it offers no protection against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. IP20-rated fittings cannot be used in bathrooms or any zones where they may be exposed to water or steam. For bathrooms, you would need a fitting rated at least IP44 or higher depending on the zone.
What warranty does the Taverna pendant come with?
This pendant light comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies from the date of purchase and covers the fitting itself, including the travertine cap, brass metalwork, and glass shade. Bulbs are consumable items and are not covered by the warranty.
