Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Leiron wall light need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, as this is a hardwired mains-voltage wall light, installation must comply with UK Building Regulations Part P. Unless you are a competent person registered with an electrical self-certification scheme, you'll need to hire a qualified electrician to carry out the installation and notify Building Control if required. The fitting is Class II (double-insulated), so it does not require an earth connection.
What type of bulb does this wall light use and is it included?
This fitting requires a single G9 capsule bulb with a maximum wattage of 25W, which is not included with the light. G9 bulbs are widely available in both LED and halogen versions—we recommend an LED G9 for energy efficiency and longer lifespan. Make sure the bulb you choose is dimmable if you intend to use it with a dimmer switch.
Can the Leiron round wall light be used with a dimmer switch?
Yes, the fitting itself is dimmable, but you must use a dimmable G9 bulb and ensure your dimmer switch is compatible with the bulb type you choose. LED G9 bulbs typically require an LED-compatible trailing edge dimmer, whereas halogen G9 bulbs work with standard dimmers. Always check the bulb manufacturer's specifications for dimmer compatibility.
What are the dimensions and how far does it project from the wall?
The Leiron has a diameter of 155mm (approximately 15.5cm) and projects 70mm from the wall. This relatively low profile makes it suitable for hallways, landings, and living spaces where you want ambient up-and-down lighting without the fitting protruding too far into the room.
Can I use this wall light in a bathroom?
No, this wall light is rated IP20, which means it offers no protection against moisture and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. For bathroom use, you would need a fitting rated at least IP44 (or IP65 for zones 1 and 2), so the Leiron should be installed in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, or other moisture-free areas only.
Can I paint the plaster finish to match my walls?
Yes, the Leiron is supplied in a paintable white plaster finish specifically designed to be overpainted. This allows you to match it perfectly to your wall colour or décor. Use a standard emulsion paint and apply thin, even coats once the fitting is installed, taking care to mask off any internal components or the lampholders before painting.
