Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Can I install this downlight in my bathroom?
Yes, the Valtari is rated IP65, making it fully protected against water jets and suitable for use in bathroom zones 1 and 2 (directly above the bath or shower). Just ensure it's installed by a qualified electrician, as bathroom lighting work falls under Part P of the Building Regulations and must be certified.
Do I need an electrician to fit this fire rated downlight?
Yes, this is a hardwired ceiling fitting that requires mains electrical work, so you'll need a qualified electrician to install it safely and certify the work under Part P. The installation difficulty is rated as moderate, and the fitting includes loop-in loop-out connectors for wiring multiple downlights on the same circuit.
What depth do I need above the ceiling for installation?
The Valtari is exceptionally shallow at just 32mm total height, making it ideal for ceilings with limited void space. You'll need a 68mm diameter cut-out in your plasterboard ceiling, but the minimal height means it works even where insulation or joists restrict deeper fittings.
Can I dim this downlight and change the colour temperature?
Yes, the Valtari is dimmable (when used with a compatible LED dimmer switch) and features four selectable colour temperatures ranging from 2700K warm white through to 6000K cool daylight. This lets you switch between cosy warm tones for living spaces or bright task lighting for kitchens and bathrooms, all from the same 600-lumen fitting.
Can I replace the LED bulb when it eventually stops working?
No, this uses an integrated LED module rather than a replaceable bulb. However, LEDs typically last 25,000+ hours (around 20 years of normal domestic use), and the fitting is covered by a 2-year warranty. When the LED eventually fails, you'd replace the entire downlight.
How bright is 600 lumens and is it enough for a kitchen?
At 600 lumens from 7W, this downlight produces roughly the equivalent of a traditional 50-60W halogen. For a kitchen, you'd typically install multiple downlights spaced evenly — generally 4-6 of these would suit an average-sized kitchen, providing plenty of functional task lighting while maintaining the sleek, minimalist aesthetic.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
