Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Do I need an electrician to install the Valtari fire rated downlight?
Yes, this fitting is hardwired directly to your mains supply and must be installed by a qualified electrician. Under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales, electrical work in kitchens, bathrooms, and new circuits must be certified by a competent person. Even in other rooms, we strongly recommend professional installation to ensure safe wiring and compliance with the fire rating requirements.
Can this downlight be used in a bathroom, and which zones is it suitable for?
Yes, the Valtari has an IP65 rating, making it fully protected against water jets and suitable for bathroom use. It can be installed in Zones 1 and 2 (above the bath or shower enclosure), though you must maintain the fire rating integrity of the ceiling and ensure all electrical work complies with Part P. Always consult your electrician to confirm specific placement for your bathroom layout.
Is the Valtari downlight dimmable, and what type of dimmer do I need?
Yes, this fitting is dimmable and works with most LED-compatible trailing edge dimmers. Because it has an integrated LED, you'll need a mains dimmer switch installed on the lighting circuit rather than a lamp-based dimmer. Your electrician can confirm compatibility with your existing dimmer or recommend a suitable model during installation.
Can I replace the LED bulb when it eventually fails?
No, the Valtari uses an integrated LED module rather than a replaceable bulb. The LED is built directly into the fitting and is designed to last many years (typically 25,000+ hours). If the LED does fail within the 2-year warranty period, the entire fitting would need replacing, but integrated LEDs are far more reliable and longer-lasting than traditional bulbs.
What cut-out size do I need in the ceiling for this downlight?
You'll need a 68mm diameter hole cut into your plasterboard ceiling to fit the Valtari. The visible diameter of the fitting is 89mm, so it will neatly cover the cut-out with an 10.5mm overlap all around. The ultra-slim 32mm height means it requires minimal ceiling void depth, making it ideal for shallow plenum spaces.
How do I change the colour temperature on this downlight?
The Valtari features switchable CCT, allowing you to choose between 2700K (warm white), 4000K (cool white), and 6000K (daylight), plus settings in between. There's a small switch on the fitting itself that you adjust before installation to select your preferred colour temperature. Once installed, the colour temperature remains fixed at your chosen setting unless the fitting is removed and adjusted again.
The Enso Standard
Anyone can sell you a light.
We’d rather sell you the right one.
Lighting, considered.
Chosen, not stocked
For every piece here, we passed on hundreds. If a fitting doesn’t earn its place, it isn’t here.
Curation is mostly the art of saying no.
Held to one standard
Copenhagen brass or precision-built LED — every piece is vetted the same way: finish, build, light quality, safety. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t stay.
The standard doesn’t care what a light costs.
Nothing left to guess
Every dimension, bulb, IP rating and install note published before you buy — you and your electrician know exactly what arrives.
The spec sheet is the love letter.
Backed, properly
Two-year warranty as standard, 30-day returns. If something isn’t right, we’d rather know — and put it right.
A fitting should outlast the fashion that chose it.
