Product Care Guide
Plaster
Dust with a soft, dry cloth only. Plaster is porous, so avoid all liquid cleaners — they'll stain or mark the surface. Raw plaster fittings can be painted: use a matte emulsion in two thin coats, allowing each to dry fully before powering on. Don't install in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the IP rating allows it.
Brass & metal
Brass develops a natural patina over time, which most people prefer. To keep the current finish, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For a brighter look, use a brass-specific polish sparingly. Never use lemon, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners — these damage lacquered brass irreversibly. Polished chrome and nickel finishes can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth.
Glass
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to avoid water marks. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner is fine. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and fully cool before cleaning.
Fabric shades
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using an upholstery attachment. Avoid wet cleaning — fabric shades can stain, warp, or shrink. Spot-clean small marks only with a barely-damp microfibre cloth.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Unglazed or matte ceramic should be kept dry and dusted only. Always ensure the fitting is switched off and cool first.
Before you clean
Switch off at the wall and let the fitting cool fully. Never spray cleaner directly onto a fitting — apply to a cloth first. If your fitting has visible wiring, electrical components, or LED drivers exposed, keep moisture well away from these areas.

Questions
Does this downlight need to be installed by a qualified electrician?
Yes, the Valtari is a hardwired ceiling fitting and must be installed by a qualified electrician under UK Building Regulations Part P. The installation involves connecting mains wiring directly into the fitting and cutting a 68mm hole in your plasterboard ceiling. While rated as moderate difficulty, it's not a DIY job unless you're a certified sparks.
Can I use this fire rated downlight in a bathroom?
Yes, with an IP65 rating this downlight is fully protected against water jets and is suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2. You can safely install it directly above a bath or shower enclosure. The fire-rated design also helps maintain the integrity of your ceiling if it separates habitable spaces.
Is the LED bulb replaceable or will I need a new fitting when it fails?
This is an integrated LED fitting, meaning the LED is built in and cannot be replaced. However, quality integrated LEDs typically last 25,000–50,000 hours (roughly 15–30 years under normal use), so replacement is rarely needed within the 2-year warranty period or well beyond.
Will this downlight work with my existing dimmer switch?
Yes, the Valtari is dimmable, but you'll need a compatible LED dimmer switch — older incandescent dimmers often cause flickering or buzzing with LED fittings. Check that your dimmer is rated for LED loads and has a minimum wattage threshold below 7W, as some LED dimmers won't operate reliably with such low-wattage fittings.
How do I change the colour temperature from warm to cool white?
This fitting has switchable CCT (correlated colour temperature) ranging from 2700K warm white to 6000K daylight white. The colour is typically changed via a small switch on the driver unit or rear of the fitting before installation, so you'll need to decide your preferred temperature during fitting. Refer to the installation guide included in the box for the exact mechanism.
At only 32mm tall, will this fit in a ceiling with limited void space?
Yes, the ultra-slim 32mm height makes the Valtari ideal for shallow ceiling voids or where insulation sits close to the plasterboard. You'll need a 68mm diameter cut-out and at least 35–40mm of clearance above the ceiling to accommodate the driver and allow heat dissipation, but this is significantly less than most standard fire-rated downlights which often require 70mm+ depth.
